Smart City Innovations: Parking in Cities of the Future

Join Parking Australia in Sydney for the first event of 2019. An industry presentation on smart city innovations and predictive data, followed by drinks with new Parking Australia CEO - Stuart Norman.

Roger Rooney, Senior Project Manager– Smart Parking for the ACT Government, will present insights from their Smart Parking Manuka project (2016-2019) and discuss predictive data trends. Roger was responsible for market sounding, promoting, procuring, contracting and deploying the sensor based network. He was also involved in the development of the ParkCBR app, and the management of the LED street sign build for the smart parking trial. Roger will talk broadly around smart city innovations and new models that deliver benefits to the operator and users.

Parking Australia is pleased to announce special guest, the Hon Shayne Mallard MLC, will be attending to represent the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, and speak about the NSW Government’s policies relating to parking. Prior to entering Parliament, Shayne had an extensive career in local government and policy development in the areas of land use planning, infrastructure, transport and social engagement, serving over 12 years in local government being first elected to South Sydney Council in 2000 and subsequently to the City of Sydney Council in 2003. His strong policy background includes a 20-year career as a political and corporate affairs advisor to both government and private sector.

Parking Australia CEO - Stuart Norman will give his first address to members. Stuart will outline his vision for the association and the challenges facing the industry, as well as other parking related matters - such as the proposed international data standards by the Alliance of Parking Data Standards (APDS). The APDS is creating a consensus-built international standard that aims to establish a common language for data elements and definitions in the parking, transportation and mobility sector, that will facilitate seamless integration, compatibility, and communication between parking entities, the automotive industry, IT developers, map and app providers, as well as other stakeholders.
